Diesel Fleet Facility Registration Stakeholder Process

The Agency has convened a group of stakeholders to solicit input on the development of a program to register facilities that own, operate, or host fleets of diesel vehicles.

Consistent with the Washington Legislature’s intent for registration of air pollution sources, the proposed facility registration program would identify, characterize, and work to reduce harmful air emissions from facilities that own, operate, or host diesel fleets. The program would help the Agency reach its goal of having facilities take steps to permanently reduce their emissions to the lowest level possible, through incentives if possible or through further regulation if necessary. Registration fees for the program would fund the operation of the Agency’s Diesel Solutions program, ensuring its long-term sustainability.

The agency expects to propose a rule to implement this program for adoption by the agency’s Board of Directors at their September 2009 meeting. Prior to beginning the rulemaking process, the agency is conducting a series of four stakeholder meetings between February and April 2009 to provide input on developing the registration program. All of the materials for these meetings are being posted on this web page as they become available.
