Options for zone/room heat

Just want to replace the old stove that currently heats a room or two? Choose one of these replacement hearth products:
- Natural gas freestanding stove
- Natural gas fireplace insert
- Propane freestanding stove
- Propane fireplace insert
- Pellet freestanding stove
- Pellet fireplace insert
- Wood stove that meet Washington State emissions standard
- Wood-burning fireplace insert that meet Washington State emissions standard
Options for
whole-house heat
Instead of replacing your old stove with another hearth product, you can replace both it and your old furnace with a new heating system. You'll receive a discount on a super-efficient furnace or heat pump that will keep your whole house warm:
- Electric heat pump
- High-efficiency gas furnace
These options carry additional incentives from participating utilities and contractors.
Incentive amounts

Puget Sound Clean Air Agency / Washington Department of Ecology incentives:
- $750 for gas, propane and electric heating devices (stoves, inserts, gas furnaces, heat pumps).
- $500 for pellet devices (stoves or inserts).
- $400 for certain high-performance wood-burning appliances (stoves or inserts), with emissions no more than one-half the Washington State emission limit.
- $200 for other Washington-approved wood-burning appliances .
- $2,500 for income-qualified households for gas, propane, pellet or electric heating devices (stoves, inserts, gas furnaces, heat pumps).
Potential additional incentives from other partners:
- Puget Sound Energy
- $350 for high-efficiency natural gas furnaces
- $200-$350 for high-performance electric heat pumps
- $400-$1,600 incentive for weatherization services
- Tacoma Public Utilities
- $750 for high-performance heat pumps
- Zero interest loan for duct sealing
Cost Expectations
It is important to keep in mind as you visit with retailers about your new heating appliance purchase that there are potential additional costs, beyond the cost of the appliance. This includes (but may not be limited to) the cost of:
- Installation
- Chimney and other repairs
- Hearth pad and backing installation or repair
- Installation of new and/or removal of old natural gas piping
- Removal of your old stove or insert
- Destruction of your old stove or insert
