Heating Replacement Options
Most or all of the cost of your replacement heating device will be covered by the following rebates available through the Wood Smoke Reduction Program:
- Puget Sound Clean Air Agency offers an "instant-rebate" coupon of $1,500 ($3,000 for income-qualifed homes) off the purchase and installation of an eligible replacement heating device.
- Pierce County or City of Tacoma offers a mail-in rebate of up to $4,000 (up to $5,000 for income-qualifed ) for the money paid for a new heating device, as well as insulation upgrades (if needed), and optional windows and/or water heater replacement, minus any other rebates. To qualify for this rebate, all homes built before 1988 must be brought up to current insulation standards.
- Puget Sound Energy and Tacoma Power offer a variety of rebates.
- Plus, a federal energy tax credit may be available for certain qualifying energy-efficiency improvements.
