5 Steps to Replacement
|
Step #1
Determine stove eligibility
- This program will only replace old wood stoves and fireplace inserts that do not meet Washington State emission standards. These standards were put into place in 1995.
- You can tell if your stove is Washington State approved by looking for a metal plate on the back of the stove with certification information. A stove with a date of 1995 or newer is not eligible. Those dated before 1995, or with no metal plate at all, are eligible for replacement. A wood stove or fireplace insert without glass doors is also a potential candidate for this program.
- The easiest way to determine stove eligibility is to register for the program.
- You will need to bring a photo of your old stove currently installed in your home when you visit a retailer or talk with a contractor outside of your home. This is intended to verify that the stove is a working stove.
Step #2
Register for a coupon
Sign up to receive a coupon by filling out a form online, sending an e-mail or calling the toll-free number. A coupon and instructions for how to participate in the program will be sent to you.

Step #3
Take the coupon to a participating business
Retailers and contractors participating in the program will verify that program funds are still available, then take the applicable dollar amount of the coupon off the price of the new appliance so you'll receive the discount immediately. The coupon is only good while funds are available, so don't delay!

Step #4
Ask about financing and other discounts
Many participating retailers and utilities are offering significant additional incentives (rebates, additional discounts, service plans, etc.) that could save you even more, depending on what new heating device you select. Be sure to ask about these additional offers. Participating contractors and retailers may offer low-interest financing to qualifying households.
Step #5
Wood stove replacement
After you select your new stove or appliance, the participating retailer or contractors will remove the old wood stove or fireplace insert and scrap it. They will install your new stove, fireplace insert, furnace or heat pump.
