Pierce County has an air pollution problem
In 2009, most of Pierce County was designated a "nonattainment area" for fine particle pollution (soot). This means that fine particle pollution levels too frequently exceeded the national limit, posing public health risks.
Now through November 2011, a Tacoma-Pierce County Clean Air Task Force, made up of residents and other stakeholders, will evaluate possible solutions to improve air quality and make Pierce County a healthier place to live.
Solving the problem takes the whole community, and we want residents of Pierce County to weigh in when these possible solutions are ready for review later this summer. Check in with us often to learn more -- and participate. With your help, we'll enjoy clean, healthy air together.
