Smog Watch cancelled for King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties
Jul. 24, 2006 — Effective at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, the Smog Watch in effect since Thursday, July 20, is cancelled, in coordination with the National Weather Service ending their air stagnation advisory.
Due to the weakening high pressure over the region and a cooling onshore flow, we expect a significant reduction in the trapping of pollutants and the formation of smog-causing ozone.
Thanks to everyone who took voluntary steps to try to reduce pollution levels during the Smog Watch. You can continue to keep an eye on current air quality at our Web site and forecasted air quality conditions at EPA's Web site. And you can always help protect the air you breathe by driving less and choosing non-gas-powered yard and recreation equipment.
The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is an air quality management agency serving King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Created as a result of the 1967 Washington Clean Air Act, the agency protects public health and improves air quality by adopting and enforcing air quality regulations, educating individuals and businesses about clean-air choices and sponsoring voluntary initiatives to improve air quality.
