Puget Sound Clean Air Agency Board of Directors appoints Marina Cofer-Wildsmith to public-at-large position
Dec. 12, 2005 –The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency Board of Directors has selected Marina Cofer-Wildsmith to fill its public-at-large position. The position was vacated by Janet Chalupnik upon her retirement in September.
Cofer-Wildsmith is the chief executive officer for the American
Lung Association of Washington.
She previously held a position on the Clean
Air Agency’s Advisory Council, representing education,
until her Nov. 17, 2005 appointment to the Board of Directors.
“I’m committed to serving the people of the Puget Sound
region in protecting air quality,” says Cofer-Wildsmith, “because
the improvements we make, as individuals and as a community, protect
public health as well as the health of our environment.”
The agency’s Board is made up of representatives from each of the four counties in its jurisdiction (King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish), a representative from the largest city in each county (Seattle, Bremerton, Tacoma and Everett), and one member representing the public-at-large.
The criteria for the public-at-large position is that the individual:
- Represent the public interest.
- Have demonstrated and current community outreach experience.
- Have relevant public health, air quality and/or related expertise.
- Support of the agency mission and values. Have experience with the Agency, such as Advisory Council membership or other involvement.
- Have the proven ability to represent a public versus government viewpoint.
- Reside within King, Pierce, Kitsap or Snohomish County.
Cofer-Wildsmith has been with the American Lung Association family for over 13 years and has served in various capacities for both the ALA of Eastern Missouri and ALA of Washington. She lives on Bainbridge Island with her husband and two children.
