City Light leads charge against climate change
Nov. 15, 2005 – This week Seattle City Light became the first large electric utility in the country to achieve its goal of "net zero" greenhouse gas emissions, setting an example to power providers throughout the state.
"City Light has demonstrated that the path into the future for energy production doesn’t have to add greenhouse gases," said Dennis McLerran, executive director of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. "In fact, conservation — which City Light has emphasized for many, many years -- goes a long way to meet growing demand."
“The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency congratulates Seattle City Light on its leadership role and taking decisive action on climate change.”
