Burn Ban cancelled

Feb. 25, 2005 —The Stage One Burn Ban issued on Monday, Feb. 21, for King, Pierce and Snohomish counties has been cancelled.

A Pacific weather system is moving across the Northwest and providing good ventilation for dispersion of pollutants.

Although the burn ban has been cancelled, please remember that the permanent ban on outdoor burning in urban areas remains in effect and that excess chimney smoke is always illegal. If you do use a wood stove or fireplace, be sure to burn properly to get the most heat with the least smoke. You can learn more about proper burning techniques at www.burningclean.com. Reducing your driving can also help protect air quality.

You can check burn ban status any time at www.pscleanair.org or by calling 1.800.595.4341. You can also check air-quality forecasts and current conditions at www.pscleanair.org. To learn about the health effects of air pollution, visit the American Lung Association of Washington’s Web site.
