Kitsap and Mason Counties offer residents two free Yard Waste Amnesty Days
Sep. 16, 2004 – Fees will be waived on two days in October for Kitsap and Mason County residents dumping approved yard debris at participating dumping locations. This program is part of an ongoing effort by Kitsap County Public Works to provide recycling alternatives to outdoor burning (external link).
On Saturday, October 2, Kitsap and Mason County residents may bring yard waste – grass clippings, leaves, branches, stumps and brush – to the North Mason Fiber Company located at NE 431 Log Yard Road in Belfair, just east of the railroad trestle on Highway 3. On Saturday, October 16, the Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue will accept branches, stumps and brush only (no grass clippings or leaves) at 5300 NW Newberry Hill Rd., just east of Dickey Road. Hours for both free Yard Waste Amnesty Days are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember to cover and secure your load.
There is no volume restriction for homeowners. Yard waste will not be accepted from businesses, landscapers, or commercial haulers regardless of whether it was generated at households.
These events are sponsored by Kitsap County Public Works in cooperation with North Mason Fiber Company, Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, and Silverdale Water District.
