Looming heat wave could mean poor air quality

Jul. 20, 2004 – We have already had some pretty hot days this spring and summer, but they have been accompanied by conditions that helped keep pollution levels low. That’s predicted to change later this week, so it’s time to think about ways you can help spare the air this weekend when temperatures soar. Things that can make a difference include:

  • Carpooling or riding the bus to events and outings.
  • Refueling vehicles in the cooler evening hours.
  • Skipping gasoline-powered yard work.
  • Driving your most fuel-efficient car, and combining errands into one trip.

Little steps each of us take now can add up to make a difference and help protect the air we all breathe. Use this Web site to keep an eye on current and forecasted air quality.
