We Walk the Talk
Because emissions from transportation sources cause most of the air pollution in our region, we encourage people to walk, bike, use mass transit or share rides whenever they can. And we make sure we walk the talk.
Almost all of our employees get to work some other way than driving alone, with the exception of inspectors and air monitoring field staff who need vehicles for their daily work.
We offer mass transit passes, guaranteed rides home, bike lockers, showers and flexible hours so people have lots of choices for how to commute. We also offer the opportunity for employees to telework to avoid the commute altogether when operations allow.
For many years, we have been designated a Pacesetter by Commuter Challenge for our agency’s excellent incentives for encouraging employees not to drive to work alone.
In 2005, we were recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as one of its Best Workplaces for Commuters, a program that provides national recognition to employers offering outstanding commuter benefits.
