Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the benefits package offered at the Clean Air Agency?
The agency offers a competitive benefits package including: health, dental, and vision insurance; state retirement plan; deferred compensation plan; life and disability insurance; paid vacation, holiday, longevity bonus days off, and sick leave; flexible work hours; training; tuition reimbursement; and FlexPass.
What kind of people work at the Clean Air Agency?
The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is a multi-county regulatory agency. We have a staff of approximately 70 people. Our staff is comprised of air pollution scientists, engineers, and inspectors, as well as computer specialists, meteorologists, and technicians that maintain air quality monitoring equipment. We have small communications, human resources, legal services, and accounting departments. There are various administration and customer service positions throughout the agency.
How does the agency announce job openings?
We advertise any job openings in the Sunday edition of the Seattle Times and position-specific websites. Or, if it is more convenient for you, check back here for new postings and information about how to apply. We do not have an application packet; rather, we ask for a cover letter and resume.
What happens when I have applied for a job?
We screen resumes for qualifications that match our job requirements. Typically, we only call a small group of highly qualified applicants. For every position, we form a selection team consisting of managers and key agency staff. Final applicants will be interviewed by this group. The executive director approves all final recommendations. The process, from start to finish, usually takes 45-60 days.
Can I send in a resume even if there are no new job postings?
We prefer to accept resumes when we have a specific job opening. Please check this page for new openings or the Sunday Seattle Times employment section.
Does the agency hire interns?
On occasion, we hire interns for specific short-term projects.
